Abstract: | Field experiments of sprinkler irrigation with different quatos for winter wheat were conducted in the growing seasons of 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 at Tongzhou experiment base for water-saving irrigation, Beijing, China. The objectives of the experiment were to analyze the effect of irrigation quatos on crop growth, grain yield and water use efficiency (WUE). Five irrigation treatments, i.e. 50%, 75%, 100%, 125% and 0% of 20 cm pan evaporation, referred as 0.5E, 0.75E, 1.0E, 1.25E and RF for the first season, and 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% and 0% of the pan evaporation, referred as 0.25E, 0.5E, 0.75E, 1.0E and RF for the second season, respectively. The results indicated that the 0.75E treatment had the highest yield in both growing seasons, while the highest WUE was 13.1 kg ha-1 mm-1 for the 0.5E treatment in the first season and 18.3 kg ha-1 mm-1 for the 0.75E treatment in the second season, respectively. A quota of 75% pan evaporation is recommended for sprinkler irrigation of winter wheat in Beijing area, China. |
