Hydrologic is an irrigation management system for effective and timely irrigation of furrow irrigated cotton. With this software, the consequences of different irrigation strategies on yield and water use efficiency can be evaluated by using a range of simple plant soil moisture measurements. The four ways in which hydrologic software can help irrigated cotton growers in their decision making are presented: (1) optimize cropping area; (2) schedule the next irrigation; (3) conduct scenario analyses; and (4) benchmarking performance of previous crops.
