Early signs indicate good water year

MONTROSE – Although it’s difficult to predict the final outcome of this season’s runoff, area reservoirs should be flush with water if current levels hold. Blue Mesa is forecast at 108 percent of average, with 775,000 acre-feet from April through July, while Ridgway Reservoir is forecast at about 98 percent of normal, or 100,000 acre-feet. “We’re looking pretty good right now, but we’ve got a lot of time between now and then, and things change in a hurry this time of year,” said Steve Fletcher, a water master for the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users Association.
