Back in 1870, when people first began to move west, some didn’t think it was such a good idea to come to the plains. For example, Daniel Webster said, “What do we want of this vast and worthless area? This region of savages and wild beasts of deserts of shifting sand and whirlwinds of dust!”
Some believe ol’ Daniel wasn’t the biggest fan of the western movement.
