New technology addresses global water needs

When Peter Frykman visited Ethiopia last year, he was struck by the sight of people so weak from hunger that they didn’t have enough energy to work.
Frykman, a mechanical engineer, was outraged.
“They tend to grow one season of rain-fed grain and it’s got to last them through the dry season,” he said. “They can grow crops in the dry season – all they need is to be able to manage their limited resources.”
