Production, Water Savings, and a Heroic History on China’s State-owned Farms

Rice farming in Heilongjiang Province in northeast China. Production is expected to increase 20 percent over the next five years, but, because of investment in water-saving irrigation systems, water use will increase one percent to two percent during the same period.
