Westlands: $3.2M desal plant to address water woes

The Westlands Water District announced it is working to develop a $3.2 million project to desalinate up to 240,000 gallons of farm drainage water per day.
Westlands, which covers more than 600,000 acres of farmland in western Fresno and Kings counties, is working with Colorado-based Ag-Water New Sky, LLC, to create the drainage water treatment facility to address the high salt content of the region’s soil that makes some areas difficult to farm.
